So far I have been talking to migrants of different backgrounds, Americans, Polish, Nigerian, Tanzanian; all the people I spoke to are living and working in Irish society.
Today I talked to Lucky Khambule, a South African citizen who is seeking asylum in Ireland and is currently living in the Direct Provision System. Lucky talks about this system, about the problems with children in Direct provision, how no help is given to people who get residency after spending up to 10 years in these institutions, and about his plans and hopes for the future.
Lucky has just been elected as the Migrants Representative on the Social Inclusion body of the Cork Participation Network.
